Corresponding Secretary
Michael Jones, Assistant Controller, Robert Silman Associates
Michael is a Bronx native and father of two. He has been with the Robert Silman Associates since May, 2000. He has 22 years of accounting experience and has been a great asset to the Robert Silman Associates team. His professional accounting experiences range from corporate retail management, to the television industry. In addition to Michael’s accounting experience, he has also worked as a state law enforcement officer and is a certified bounty recovery agent. Educated at Thomas Edison State College and SCS Business Institute, Michael earned a certificate in Business Management with a BS in Business Administration.
Michael’s primary interest in the SDA is to gain an in-depth knowledge of the industry, and he has proven his willingness to take a more active role in the organization.
For our 2010 Lunchtime Roundtables he presented, “Understanding Fiduciary Responsibilities” and RSA’s “Emergency Management Plan,” both of which inspired excellent discussion. Mike also co-chairs the SDA Job Bank, and has revamped it to include follow-up to make sure job seekers are connected with job opportunities. He wrote an inspiring essay that earned him the Jennifer M. Greene Scholarship to EdSymposium10, for which he was a fabulous representative of the New York Chapter in Las Vegas. His wonderful article in SkyLines July 2010 states it perfectly. He finished 2010 as the NY Chapter Member of the Year for his achievements. Last year, Michael participated on the National awards committee producing the EdSymposium11 Video, ‘Society for Design Administration—Memories of Yesterday.” As a member of the NY Chapter Programs Committee, he organized the Going Paperless Program given by Jerry Laiserin, as well as the FBI corporate and personal fraud program.
