Meet the Advisory Board to the SDA New York Chapter!

The SDA New York Chapter has established an Advisory Board of A/E/C industry experts who will contribute their knowledge, wisdom, experience, and connections within the industry.

SDA New York Past President and Director, Jennifer M. Greene, CDFA, Assoc. AIA, stated, “The collaborative efforts of this impressive group of thought leaders will enhance the value and expertise of the SDA in the A/E/C industry, at all levels.”

Bob Herrmann, Chair of the Advisory Board, said, “I am excited about the opportunity for the Advisory Board to assist the New York Chapter to expand its educational mission, help the Chapter increase its visibility within the industry, and expand its membership.”

The inaugural Advisory Board is composed of the following individuals who are recognized leaders in their industry:


Robert Herrmann Robert F. Herrmann, Advisory Board Chair, Principal, New York Office, Offit | Kurman Attorneys

Bob is the Chair of the firm’s New York Construction Law Practice. He represents design professionals, and other construction-related firms, privately held businesses, and NYC housing cooperatives and condominiums. He acts as general counsel to a number of architects, interior designers, lighting designers, engineers, owners, developers and contractors, advising them on general business matters, litigation, arbitration and mediation. He is the author of Law for Architects: What you Need to Know and Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

Michelle DiLello, Partner, Architecture + Design, Blue Medium

A talented and dedicated public relations professional, Michelle DiLello possesses more than two decades’ experience in developing and implementing strategic communications programs in the U.S. and abroad. She has a proven track record for raising the profiles of internationally recognized and emerging architecture firms, designers, design brands, and cultural and academic institutions. Michelle applies her hands-on and results-oriented approach to assist clients to increase visibility, achieve prestigious thought leadership statuses, and generate business leads and revenues. Her areas of expertise include strategic campaign development, media relations, crisis management, press conferences, art and design fairs, exhibitions, trade shows, design competitions, speaking engagements, product launches, cultivation events and influencer engagement. Through her work with leading brands, creatives, institutions and fairs, Michelle has gained unmatched global access to top-tier general news, leading design, lifestyle, and culture journalists and influencers.


Simon Goodhead, Principal, The Coxe Group

With a deep history in operations and leadership, Simon brings a different perspective to the A/E/C industry. Having spent the first half of his career in engineering with Buro Happold and Arup, he has been through the full construction process while growing a business. He has extensive knowledge and background in operational leadership, strategic planning, and mergers and acquisition. Simon has experience being employed by, and consulting for, multiple types of ownership structures, including partnerships, proprietorships, employee owned, and private equity. As Simon describes it, “I have always enjoyed the combination of business and design. The better design firms understand their people and help them develop professionally. The better the people, the better the designs.”

Gia Mainiero, AIA, LEED AP, Assoc. DBIA, Principal, Dattner Architects

A born-and-raised New Yorker, Gia has always been captivated by the intricate and interrelated systems that make urban life possible. Her determination to garner a big picture understanding of how things work has led her to manage many of the firm’s infrastructure and transportation projects. She has a passion for public architecture and is committed to creating inspiring, sustainable infrastructure for future generations. Gia was selected for PwC’s 40 under 40 Outstanding Women in Construction


Marilyn MarulloMarilyn Marullo, Chief Administrative Officer (Retired), Beyer Blinder Belle
Marilyn (retired from BBB in 2021) served as Chief Administrative Officer for more than 36 years, overseeing BBB’s administrative operations and heavily shaping its culture. Marilyn guided the firm from a small architectural office in Manhattan’s West Village to a multi-disciplinary design firm well regarded in and beyond New York City, Washington, DC, and Boston, where the firm has offices. Marilyn played an integral role in the firm’s daily and long-term management. She is also a founder, past president, and board member of the SDA NY Chapter.

Patricia McCaffery, PE, Principal, Meyers+ Engineers

During Patty’s 27-year career as a professional engineer based in the New York area, she has completed projects in a various market sectors including corporate interiors, performing arts, cultural and most notably the federal market sector. Patty has successfully led a design practice focused on working with the federal government both internationally and domestically having completed projects in 40+ countries on 5 continents. Her portfolio of completed work has ranged in scope and complexity from master planning studies to major renovations and new construction. Patty has executed projects through a variety of delivery methods including design-bid-build and design-build. Most recently, Patty was responsible for overseeing the engineering design of three new diplomatic campuses totaling over $1 billion dollars in construction.

David S. Rubin, CPA, CGMA, Director, Anchin

David Rubin, CPA, is an accounting and audit director at Anchin with 30 years of experience. He has become known for the high level of personal service and keen business insight that he brings to his clients. David has advised on a wide range of issues, including partnership agreements, succession planning, personal and business tax planning, and more. Clients continue to find him extremely responsive in his approach to satisfying their business needs. David has developed particular expertise in professional service firms with the likes of physicians and attorneys, as well as the architecture and engineering industries. David has served some of the largest engineering firms in the area for more than a decade; he is a prominent member of Anchin’s Architecture & Engineering Industry Group and the Law Firms Industry Group. David is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).


David Singer, Senior Managing Director, Risk Strategies Company

David was a founder of Singer Nelson Charlmers, which he merged into Risk Strategies in 2013. He has over 30 years of insurance brokerage experience. David serves as the primary executive contact for numerous Risk Strategies clients. While he and Risk Strategies provide insurance, risk management, and employee benefits services to clients in many industries, David’s primary focus as been in the world of architects and engineers. He is the author of Six Simple Rules for a Better Life; and speaks regularly on wellness topics for clients and as a keynote speaker.
