About the Presenter
Deborah A Gill, CPA FSDA
Deborah has 100,000 hours of experience in architecture, engineering, and land surveying firms, working in large and small firms and as a consultant to the industry. Deborah spent 21 years as the Controller at Clark Nexsen, a 500+ architectural/engineering (A/E) multi-disciplined firm establishing budgeting practices and reporting to monitor outcomes. As a consultant and owner of Profit by Design, LLC, she provided accounting and systems support for Deltek products to more than 100 clients. Deborah established project management and financial systems in many companies to support the implementation of accounting software. As CFO at Precision Measurements, Inc., she doubled revenue and grew the firm by implementing better business practices, including contract management, revenue budgeting, and project finance monitoring. As a consultant and controller, she has been involved in the operations side of several mergers and acquisitions.
Deborah is the author of The Controller’s Sketchbook, a Finance and Accounting Guide for the A|E Firm. She teaches SDA’s BizTrak® workshops as well as deep dives into Ownership Transition, Project Management (finances), and Financial Statements for non-finance types for many firms and organizations, including SDA, SMPS, SHRM, AIA, IFMA, ACEC-V, and NSPS. Deborah is involved in A|E sector associations and community institutions, including SDA, AIA, Canstruction, and Women United. She has a B.A. in foreign service from the University of Mary Washington and is a CPA in Virginia. |
